The other day I came home from work and set all my stuff on the counter. Kevin was already home and asked what he always asks: "Did I get anything today?"
"The phone book" I told him.
He was quiet for a beat then said "The new phone book is here?"
If you know the Steve Martin movie "The Jerk", you know what's coming next. "The New Phone Books are Here! The New Phone Books are Here!"
It's a running joke around here, that movie.
The other day at work, Kevin was asked by the office manager if he played a musical instrument in school. "No, I was born a poor black child..."
It is silly how much we refer to this movie.
Last night we were getting ready to leave and he left before me. "I have my wallet, my phone, and my keys." Without missing a beat, I said "And this lamp, and that table...."
What movie do you quote often, or is a running joke with you?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He's quite the philosopher!!
omg! i quote the jerk a lot too : ) when i was working, each time the magazine came out i'd shout the new phone books are here, the new phone books are here. really, that movie is golden. i also slip in some bueller once in a while and sadly i say one time, at band camp whenever people say guess what or one time.
Now things will start happening to me!
We quote the part where he's adding up how many days their time together has FELT like. It's that part where he's like, "The first day was like ten days, but then the second and third day were like one day..." and he goes on and on until he says "Anyway, I've got it all written down." We use that whenever one of us is going on about something unnecessarily long and tedious: I'll suddenly hear myself and cut off with "Anyway, I've got it all written down."
Love it! Glad I'm not the only one!
